• Welcome to my academic website.

I am a scholar of queer and transnational Asia. Throughout my research career, I have used ethnographic and textual-based methods to examine LGBTIQ+ and/or mobile lives and cultures across Chinese-speaking communities in East and Southeast Asia.

Currently based in Amsterdam, I am a fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences. I am also an associate researcher at the French Centre for Research on Contemporary China and an adjunct faculty member at Monash University Malaysia.

Previously, I held faculty and research positions at Monash and the International Institute for Asian Studies at Leiden University. I hold a PhD in gender studies (anthropology) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

In my other career, I am a DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) advisor and intercultural specialist. I previously worked at Logitech as the first and only DEI advisor overseeing the Asia Pacific region. Now working independently and globally, I use research-informed, evidence-based approaches to support organizations at different stages of their DEI journeys.
